Kayak fishing boat types & materials:
Recreational, Touring/Sea, and White Water.
Types of materials: There are Kevlar, fibreglass, inflatables & polyethylene (Plastic). Plastics are the most use in kayak fishing. The hull can take the hits from rocks and other obstacles in the water. The only problem is in transportation of these Plastic boats. The car racks can wrap them in hot heat. Don’t leave them strapped down tight in the heat.
For Kayak Fishing recreational boats are one of the best suited for the endevore. This class of boat has the stability vs sea/touring. For the storage capacity white water boats are slow and useless for fishing!
Expedition touring
The longest trips, in bad conditions, with the heaviest loads. Expedition touring kayaks are typically very long (16 feet or more), fairly narrow, with lots of storage space, designed to track well, and are usually equipped with a rudder or skeg.
Day touring kayaks
Leisurely trips of moderate length, including occasional overnight family trips in moderately difficult conditions. The most versatile category. Day touring kayaks are usually of moderate length (13-15 feet) and width, include ample storage space, and can often be equipped with a rudder or skeg. Great for Kayak fishing on big lakes!
Recreational
